Within Windham Weaponry’s shotgun lineup, the Theron Series—encompassing the Theron OS28 and Theron OS30 models—was developed as a modern, high-spec 12-gauge platform featuring a break-action Over/Under (O/U) dual-barrel operating system. Designed to combine timeless double-barrel balance with precision lockup and modern ergonomics, the Theron line offers specialized options tailored for classic upland bird and waterfowl hunting (OS28) as well as extended-barrel competition trap, skeet, and sporting clays (OS30).

Technical Overview

All models in the Windham Weaponry Theron Series utilize a traditional break-action Over/Under mechanism equipped with single selective mechanical or inertia triggers and selective automatic ejectors. Chambered in 12 Gauge with a 3-inch (76mm) chamber, both variants safely handle standard 2.75-inch target loads and 3-inch magnum field shells across distinct 28-inch and 30-inch barrel profiles.

Construction & Receivers

• Receiver Architecture: Precision-machined from solid forged steel with a brushed satin, silver nitride, or blued finish, featuring delicate decorative laser engraving. Includes a top-tang barrel selector and safety slide, allowing the shooter to select which barrel fires first.

• Barrels & Metallurgy: Dual barrels are precision-machined from heavy-duty AISI 4140 carbon steel, chrome-lined internally for corrosion resistance and easy maintenance, and joined with ventilated side ribs for optimal weight distribution and cooling.

  • Theron OS28 (Field / Hunting): Built around 28-inch ventilated-rib barrels engineered for smooth swing, rapid target acquisition, and balanced tracking on fast-moving game birds or sporting targets.

  • Theron OS30 (Sporting / Target): Features extended 30-inch ventilated-rib barrels providing a longer sight radius, enhanced forward mass for smooth follow-through, and consistent dense patterning required for competitive trap, skeet, and long-range sporting clays.

• Locking Mechanism & Ejection: Engineered with a heavy-duty cross-pin locking block to ensure tight lockup under high volume firing schedules, paired with automatic selective ejectors that cleanly throw empty spent hulls while elevating un-fired shells for quick manual extraction.

Furniture & Model Variants

• Theron OS28 (Field O/U): Outfitted with hand-selected, oil-finished Turkish Walnut wood furniture featuring fine checkering on the pistol grip and Schnabel forend, optimizing weight balance for all-day field carry.

• Theron OS30 (Sporting Clays O/U): Outfitted with select Turkish Walnut wood furniture featuring an adjustable comb (on select competition sub-variants) and a palm-swell sporting grip to accommodate consistent cheek placement during high-volume shooting matches.

• Sights & Choke Systems: Both variants feature wide, ventilated top sight ribs equipped with brass or fiber-optic front beads. Both models ship complete with a set of 5 extended or flush-fit interchangeable choke tubes (Cylinder, Improved Cylinder, Modified, Improved Modified, Full) and a choke wrench.
